Some of my fondest childhood memories are the Saturdays I spent with my mom, sister, aunts, and cousins meandering through the once-iconic Hulen Mall in Fort Worth, Texas. This was the 1980’s, after all, the heyday of The Mall. As time progressed, so did our taste and appreciation for well-curated shops, the kind where you walk in and can immediately sense the elevated style of the owner, their attention to detail, and their clear understanding of their own aesthetic voice. I adore spaces such as these not only for the bounty of treasures they hold, but also for the artisans and designers one discovers while visiting. This side of my photography practice, the love and celebration of a beautiful shop, is dedicated to the women who raised me.

Avey & Kim Vintage

Becky Johnson, the owner and style maven behind Astoria Vintage Hardware, hosts several talented shop owners in the galleria upstairs. Avey and Kim are two such doyennes. Their design vision is clear, and their space is chock-full of the kind of magic only a longtime collector can possess.
